WELCOME AND CELEBRATIONS (Any Birthdays or Anniversaries?)

† GATHERING HYMN: MV #1 “Let Us Build a House”

LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE AND THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION CANDLE

As we light the Christ candle let it remind us this light we see is composed of all the colours of the spectrum, all the colours of the rainbow.

As we light the candle of truth and reconciliation let us recommit ourselves to continue this important journey with our indigenous family.

Let these candles be a symbol that together through the understanding of the radical love of Jesus Christ we can build a house where all are truly welcome.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE LANDS (Unison)

We acknowledge, honour and respect this land and the Anishinaabe / Mississauga peoples with whom Treaty 20, Williams treaty, was signed, on the lands where we are.  We acknowledge and give thanks for the lands and people of treaties and unceded territories of all who are worshiping. It is up to all of us to live into truth, respect and reconciliation with all our relations.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Today we come together to worship our Triune God,

The Eternal Trinity

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer.

As an affirming community of faith, we also

celebrate the diversity of all God’s people

on the first Sunday of June,

Pride Sunday.

The two are connected.

For in knowing that each one of us is

the beloved of our Maker, our Saviour,

and the Holy Breath by which we live,

Together, but through our diversity,

we live a life dedicated to extending

the Radical and inclusive love of God

to the person next to us,

to the person across the street,

to the person across the country,

to the person across the world,

regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

Come let us worship the God of all colours, all hearts, all genders.

† HYMN: MV #145 “Draw the Circle Wide”

OPENING PRAYER

Holy Spirit be among us this morning

Blow ideas that are not accurate or loving from our bodies.

Wonderful Counselor, open our minds and hearts

To receive the wisdom of your teachings.

Father and Mother of Humankind, strengthen us

and guide us on the path of

Deep spirituality, bold discipleship,

and daring justice.

Amen

all that we have,

all that we are,

is blessed and blessing.

we add our blessing to yours.

WE HEAR GOD’S WORD

SCRIPTURE READINGS:

Psalm 8 (NIV) Read by Sylvia

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?[c]

You have made them[d] a little lower than the angels[e]
and crowned them[f] with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their[g] feet:
all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Matthew 28: 16-20 (Read by Lisa)

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

† HYMN: VU #315 “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty”

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.  Amen
