WELCOME AND CELEBRATIONS (Announcements are done at the end of service)

Welcome to the Fourth Sunday of Easter

† GATHERING HYMN: VU #412 “This is the Day”

Christ Candle

We gather as people who follow the light.

Whether we wait for the sun’s rising, or light a candle in the night, or experience the light in a loved one’s heart, we seek light by which we may live.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.”

May his light burn warmly within us and shine brightly out as love from us for all the world to recognize.

Candle for Truth and Reconciliation:

We light this candle for truth and reconciliation.

We light this candle in recognition of this world, particularly this area of earth called Turtle Island, which was created by God before human time began.

In every moment, Christ’s light shines over this land where we are thankful to live. Amen.

Sue Carleton, Shallow Lake U.C., Shallow Lake, Ont. Used with permission.

We acknowledge, honour and respect this land and the Anishinaabe / Mississauga peoples with whom Treaty 20, Williams treaty, was signed, on the lands where we are.  We acknowledge and give thanks for the lands and people of treaties and unceded territories of all who are worshiping. It is up to all of us to live into truth, respect and reconciliation with all our relations.

Who put the magical buzz in the bumblebee, and the intricate scales on the cod?

Our God! Our God!

Who put the incredible trunk on the elephant, and the peas in the pod?

Our God! Our God!

And who has brought us miraculously here, joyful and awed?

Our God! Our God!

HYMN: MV #79 “Spirit, Open My Heart”

Loving God,

Creator of heaven and earth, Creator of sea and sky,

Creator of all living things—plant and animal, bird  and fish—we come as one of your earth creatures.

Provider God,

you provide all the nourishment that is needed.

You feed and nurture all living things: plant and animal, bird and fish.

Creator, Provider, and Sustainer God, you create and recreate, heal and restore as it pleases you.

Help us experience you in all creation.

Help us sing your praise with thanksgiving.

Help us live in your love.

Help us be a loving part of your creation, caring as you care and loving as you love.

With joy and love for the wonder and miracle of life itself we praise you, Creator God.

In the name of Jesus we pray.

† HYMN: VU #664 “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”

John 10:1-10 NIV (Read by Jim)

The Good Shepherd and His Sheep

10 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6 Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them.

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Acts 2:42-47 NIV (Read by Lorrie)

The Fellowship of the Believers

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Hello Folks;

There will be a Zoom link for the service, but I think the link will be shared on the day of the service. I can find out if I can get access to it sooner, for anyone interested in it.

Please share this information with all that may not be on this email chain, I would love to have many of you as possible at my Ordination to share this wonderful day.
