Dynamic Dunsford United Church Newsletter – August 22, 2021

Update from the Chair

On Sunday, September 12 at 10 a.m. we will be having our first in person worship service in 2021 and it is shaping up to be pretty special! Rev. Anne will bring the message AND Brenda will be at the keyboard as our music supply person AND Christena-Lynn will sing a solo for us!

Greg has connected our new computer system for the media booth – “Thanks Greg!” – and we are looking for people to sign up to work in the back corner.

Soloists are most welcome for our fall worship Sundays so check over your music and your calendars. Let’s get those dates filled!

Covid protocols including physical distancing, wearing of masks and hand sanitizing will be part of the plan. Let’s rejoice in returning and keep everyone safe.

We now have Carolle and John on the stewardship team (see recommendation #3 below). At least three people should form this team.

Stewardship Report

The Mission Board met with course participants on July 8th to review the Stewardship Report. A copy of the report is now available through the church office. There were 9 recommendations made by the course instructor and the board voted in favour of proceeding with immediate follow-up.

1– to review our Mission Statement with an eye to focusing on who we are and how we are living out our mission

Recommendation # 1: Since your sense of mission and ministry is reasonably current, your community of faith simply needs to continue to monitor it and live it out. Showing how you are achieving your mission is a great tool to inspire participants.

The July 29th tentative meeting did not take place. Please watch for a new date and kindly let us know if you are interested in participating.

2– to form a Stewardship team of at least three people who will work on a one year and a three year plan

Recommendation # 3: As you currently do NOT have an active stewardship team, creating one needs to be a priority. Recruit a Stewardship Team for a specific term (3 years?). The new team must receive training on both the role of the team and on stewardship best practices, and the Team should report regularly to the governing body. The new team should seriously consider taking the Called to be the Church: The Journey module 1 –Best Practices course.

Please contact Carol if you are interested in being part of the Stewardship Team.

We are also asking for prayers for our partners and the Haitian United Church community in Canada, who are trying to contact family and friends in the devastation. Read more about the situation here.

Your Generosity Matters: Women Farmers Like Barari Catalyze Change

Barari remembers the way the other farmers in her village laughed at her when she began to farm differently. “It is a waste of time,” they said. “It will never work.” Here’s how it turned out.
