From the Chair of the Mission Board:
A meeting is being called for the full Mission Board on Thursday, October 29th at 7 PM. The church hall will be open for those who are unable to access zoom from home. Please be prepared to wear a mask, sanitize your hands upon entering the building and practise social distancing. We have not met as a full board since the Covid-19 outbreak so I ask that you make every attempt to attend this meeting. Please confirm your intention to participate by calling or emailing me and also indicate if you will be part of the group at the church. Thank you all!

Greetings from Sharon,
Hello during study leave from Dartmouth Nova Scotia and day two of post self-isolation quarantine. It was wonderful to have family together with our bubble adding Trevor and the family pet Leo, a standard poodle, now that we served our fourteen days of self-isolation. Most importantly, all are safe and well, here and in Ontario, Alberta and BC, destinations folks came from for Sarah’s wedding.
Study leave is really busy with lots of webinars this week and next, course work, planning and it is nice to have three different course components all happening so I am doing “a little of this” and a “little of that.” Zoom is so awesome! I could not take on all the things of these two weeks here without such wonderful flexibility of virtual components.
News out of Ontario for climbing numbers of COVID-19 is difficult as the urgency for care and safety continues to be uplifted.
Some fun thinking ahead this week as “Advent Unwrapped, United Church of Canada sends out its first introduction for the season and I attend an Advent workshop along with news from United Church that the Vision catalogue is now available. Does it seem possible that the holiday season is approaching so quickly.
Thanks to Kevin for leading worship last Sunday and for leading this Sunday October 25 and November 1.
A reminder that our Remembrance Day service is November 8. Brian will be playing bagpipes and Cliff will be playing trumpet at the 10:00 A.M. service.
Our executive is meeting tomorrow and the whole Mission Board is meeting October 29. The worship team met and has proposed ideas for worship upcoming and hopefully there will be an update in the November 4 newsletter, so stay tuned.
Speaking of November 4, please get any Remembrance Day photos to CL by November 4 so she can include in the PowerPoint slides.
Thanks so much. Stay safe and stay well. Keep connecting and checking-in on each other. It makes a difference!
Reminder: Affirming Workshop Webinar Saturday November 14 by Zoom
All are welcome and encouraged to participate. For those who followed the ECORC annual meeting, you may recall the affirming forum did a presentation and extended a save the date for November 14 webinar. It will be a great opportunity for all affirming ministries and those thinking about it, or in process, to hear from the forum, to ask questions and be updated. The link is not available yet, but I had a meeting with staff Sharon Hull and learned the meeting will begin at 10:00 A.M. on November 14. ECORC will likely post the link soon.
